Advocates call on power markets to do more to promote solar development

While state climate policies and corporate sustainability goals haveencouraged significant buildout of utility-scale renewable projects, thewholesale power markets could play a greater role in driving renewableenergy deployments, solar energy advocates said at an industry forum.There are about 39 GW of utility-scale solar projects operating inthe US, with an additional 10 GW under construction, according to theSolar Energy Industries Association. Wholesale power markets coverabout two-thirds of the US population but have not been a major driver of this investment in solar energy.
