The advent of compression and digitalization techniques has shifted the whole platform for the television system model leading to a new generation of high definition television (HDTV) that support high-quality audio-video effects. The need to entertain consumers with a wide range of interactive multimedia services has forced the television industry into a new era of digital TV (DTV). Initially DTV was perceived as a replacement for the traditional analog technology systems such as NTSC and PAL. Due to a rapid increase in the amount of services rendered by DTVs, conventional channel selection methods fail to suffice the condition of practicality. Providing user-personalized services with enhanced security and eliminating information overloads are the main challenges that face the television industry. However, the arrival of new industry-driven commercial technology has forced researchers to develop a new generation of future DTV with intelligence.
