摘要

Ambient assisted living (AAL), especially for the mobility-impaired population, is gradually emerging as one of the key application areas in the ambient intelligence space. Despite the recent advances in this direction, a few key technical factors have brought to light, the difficulty in implementing ambient intelligence capabilities in nomadic environments. Firstly, nomadic environments increase the complexity of executing computational functions as agents are constantly on the move. Secondly, the need for nomadic agents to support multiple ambient applications raises the need to integrate a multitude of different sensors, application programming interfaces (API) and programming languages. As a result, there still remains an open need to develop a powerful ambient-aware solution to cater to the needs of the mobility impaired population.
