摘要

Waste heat or in other terms anthropogenic heat, which is by and large regarded as a waste byproduct, refers to the heat produced by machines and industrial processes. This waste heat so far has not found any useful application and has been considered as a waste byproduct. Engineers estimate this wastage by totaling all the energy used for heating and cooling, running appliances, transportation, and industrial processes and have identified that it is less for rural areas whereas very large in dense urban areas. They have attributed this heat as a contributor to the urban heat islands and have cited the biggest source of waste heat to be originating from machines such as electrical generators or industrial processes, such as steel or glass production.
