摘要

Mobile health monitoring of vital parameters has picked pace exponentially, however striving to reach gold standards or lab standards is still the ultimate goal for players in the mobile monitoring space. Two vital health parameters that need to be monitored continuously are blood glucose levels and dehydration. As the diabetic population is increasing, blood glucose monitors are widely prevalent. However, the device still requires a blood sample from the patient, which is obtained by pricking the patient's finger and passing the sample to a strip, and inserting the strip into a glucometer, which gives out the glucose reading. Though it is highly beneficial, there are still a lot of challenges related to reliable glucose monitoring. Dehydration occurs when water loss exceeds water intake, either due to exercise or disease. It is considered a risk factor for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. It can cause delirium and can also contribute to dementia in elderly population and the ill.
