Air contains many contaminants including dust, micro-organisms and gases. This makes selecting the right air filters tor food factories crucial. James Draycott from Camfil, which has worked with BRCGS to produce new air quality standards for food manufacturing facilities, discusses. All food factories require ventilation to control temperature, humidity, air quality and provide the required pressure regime and air changes. However, the air supplied by ventilation systems can act as a source of contamination. Indeed, the quality of the air in a food factory has an enormous bearing on whether or not the products being manufactured or processed there are safe and free from contamination.
