"A doctor's time is our most expensive commodity, and the fact that our doctors were spending a lot of their time searching for archival images and studies was unacceptable," says [John Halamka]. "Our restoration times using our old tape-based process were around 20 minutes-that is, if the data could be found at all. We've cut that time down to about 10 seconds using content-addressed storage."
