Forced to compete fiercely for every scrap of business, more than ever, small and medium-size businesses (SMBs) are turning to IT to boost productivity and retain their best customers. But while many SMBs want to do more to automate, they don't always have the right people on staff to select and roll out the best technologies. "SMBs have limited IT staff, but they still need all the expert advice that large enterprises enjoy," observes John Madden, director of the Selling to Small and Medium Businesses Practice at Summit Strategies in Boston.
