Storage Management is Growing Up (Finally!)

Having an adolescent daughter seems unrelated to storage management, yet sometimes the similarities are scary. My daughter has ups and downs of moods, zigs and zags from success to failure, and makes it clear when the hot fads of yesterday have become too gross for words today. In some ways, the experience helps me deal with storage management, which is also in its adolescent phase. Like a teenager, storage occasionally demonstrates maturity. Storage arrays, for example, can be easily substituted with adequate connectivity standards (e.g., Fibre Channel, SCSI). Reliability is high, and price/performance continues to improve by more than 30 percent annually.
