Chuck Schumer asking federal agencies for financial support to extend an upstate New York county's fiber network into surrounding areas?rnSchumer's idea reminds me of the empty interstate highways built in West Virginia that were supposed to enable and promote commerce. Uncle Sam shouldn't own infrastructure when the private economy can provide it. Unlike government boondoggles, private companies can be "fired" by their consumers.
