Windows 8 will have a much more complicated adoption path for PCs and mobile devices than it will for servers. On the PC front, Windows 7 is relatively new and has been well received, while the warhorse Windows XP remains in wide use-all of which suggests Microsoft will struggle to convince users to move on. Of those companies that plan to adopt Windows 8 for desktops and laptops, only 5% plan to do so as soon as the operating system is available. The largest number of respondents, 28%, don't have a timeline for deployment.
