Cisco Pitches An Integration Framework For Private Clouds

Cisco has taken a step back from cloud partner VMware and launched a set of integrated components for building private clouds running multiple hypervisors. Cisco's new Cloud-Verse manages pooled resources-including virtualized networking, storage, and servers-to create an automated cloud operation in the enterprise data center. One of CloudVerse's components, Intelligent Automation for the Cloud, is a software management system for private clouds. Those private clouds can run on Microsoft's Hyper-V, Red Hat's KVM,and IBM or Hewlett-Packard hypervisors, as well as VMware's ESX Server, says Lew Tucker, Cisco's CTO for cloud computing.
