Google Unveils Tablet, Andoid 4.1, And Prototype Glasses

At its Google I/O developers' conference in San Francisco, Google jumped into the tablet market with the 7-inch Nexus 7. The Asus-made device, which will sell for $199, has a 1,280- x 800-pixel display and an Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset with a quad-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, making it well-suited for calculation-intensive apps like games and video. The Nexus 7, which is expected to challenge Amazon's Kindle Fire and Apple's iPad, runs on Jelly Bean, a.k.a. Android 4.1, a new operating system version.
