Microsoft, out to prove that Windows 8 may be the most flexible Windows version yet, showed at the recent TechEd conference how the new OS can run instances of previous versions within a Win 8 desktop and how it can easily boot on systems running Windows 7.rnLinda Averett, who leads program management for Microsoft's developer experience team, demonstrated how the hypervisor software that's built directly into the Win 8 client lets users run a virtual instance of Win 7 within Windows 8.
