Microsoft Corp. is doing exactly that with its newest Windows-based operating system known as Vista. Scheduled for release in early 2007, Vista is being hailed by Microsoft as "the most secure version of Windows yet." To ensure the security of Vista, Microsoft has distributed 3,000 test copies of the operating system to computer security professionals around the world with specific instructions: Try to corrupt it any way possible and report findings back to Microsoft. Microsoft's programmers will then correct whatever bugs are inherent in the software.
