The young officer is working at his terminal in the divisional headquarters nearing the end of a long hard shift. It had been one of the busiest during the current stage of the conflict. He felt sure that something had been wrong with the communications links over the last couple of hours because message traffic and queries had slowed down. However, he had not had the time to investigate the matter himself or relay his concerns to anyone else.
