Footprinting for Intrusion Detection and Threat Assessment

One conclusion is that the greater the threat, the smaller the amount of traffic that will be generated by the intruder. However, some intruders who lack technical capability pose a serious threat because they are prepared to sit at a terminal for hours and try hundreds of combinations [STO88, NEU95]. More intruders are now engaging in intelligence- gathering activities on the Internet and Web, and thus an organization needs to examine all information flowing out of the organization.
