Yesterday's Innovation, Today's Practice, Tomorrow's World: 5th Libraries Without Walls Conference, Lesbos

During the publishing lifetime of IMR the world of information has changed radically in terms of the rapid advances in information and communications technologies (ICT). The potential for timely and global accessibility and availability of information especially across the internet is now a reality for those able to invest in, and subscribe to, this technology and its products. Since 1995 there have been five ' Libraries Without Walls' conferences, the latest being the conference held in Molyvos, on the island of Lesbos in the Aegean,19-22 September 2003, and attended by delegates from 23 countries across five continents. The conference grew out of a European project (EQLIPSE) canted out by the Centre for Research in Library and Information Management (CERLIM), then at the University of Central Lancashire, and now part of the School of Information and Communications at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), Dublin City University (DCU) and the University of the Aegean (UA).
