The World Library and Information Congress is the new name for the IFLA Conference; this was therefore the headline that appeared on all papers and reports issued at the 69th Conference held in Berlin on August 1-9. The subtitle was 'Access Point Library: Media - Information - Culture.' Whatever its name, the annual IFLA Conference has become a major international event. This year there were delegates from 140 countries, and the total number registered climbed during the week to 4506. Predictably the host nation led the way with 750 delegates; the USA was represented by 400. The third largest national group was the UK - 180 people. Russia and many European countries has delegations of over 100, and further afield there were parties from China (41), Iran (42), Japan (31), Australia (41) and, remarkably, Korea (83).
