Turning Information into Best Practice: the Warren House Approach

Information sharing and knowledge management have received considerable press coverage over the past few years. Yet how do you move from collect-tag and organizing knowledge and information to ensuring its dissemination in a form that will make its practical use possible and desirable? That is what the Warren House Group (WHG) has been working on to take its work forward. The group is considered to be in the forefront of social research, creating new ways of doing things and of using and presenting information. Its overall objective, within the field of social work, is to enhance the lives of children in need and their families, and improve children's services. This it aims to do through well-designed research, of which the outcomes are analysed and presented in forms which can be fed directly into practice, turning the information gathered into practical tools for those working in this area of social activity. It is through this evidence-into-outcome approach -based on a combination of good research with the skilful development of ideas and dissemination of information ― that the group aims to influence social policy and promote good practice.
