The 34th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO elected 21 Member States as new members of the Intergovernmental Council for the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), joining the 18 that were elected at the 33rd session. The new members are: Benin, Cameroon, Colombia, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Jordan, Madagascar, Mali, Namibia, Romania, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland, Tajikistan, United States of America, Venezuela, Viet Nam, Yemen and Zambia. The General Conference also elected 14 Member States as new members of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) to join the 13 that were elected at the 33rd session (except Indonesia replacing Malaysia): Austria, France, Israel (Group I), Brazil, Grenada, Venezuela (Group III), DRP Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Viet Nam (Group IV), Kenya, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire (Group V (a)) and Libya (Group V (b)).
