Information designers strive to clarify complex information. Toni Weller s book is an examination of the origins of our raw material - a history of information itself. The book is written for librarians and those who study information, in the somewhat academic language that will be familiar to them. Every field has its own jargon, designers included, but that's not to say that designers should avoid this diverse collection of essays. After all, before we can be information designers, we need something to work with. Just as we study the history of information design, we should know more about the history of information.
