Hot topics in information research discusses emerging topics in information design from a variety of perspectives, including computational, psychological and sociological. Rick van Eck discusses the field of digital game-based learning and points out some of the research challenges that the field faces. Major challenges concern the interdisciplinary nature of the field, incorporating disciplines such as computer science, education, psychology, and graphic design, as well as building a bridge between academia and industry.
