USE marks milestone with 2019 Fellow awards

The 2019 Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers Fellow Awards presented at the USE Annual Conference & Expo marked a milestone at this year's presentation: Three of the recipients - Harriet Nembhard, Pamela McCauley and Tonya Smith-Jackson - hold the distinction of being the first female African Americans to receive the honor in the award's 69-year history.They were among nine recipients honored during the Honors and Awards ceremony May 20 at the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel in Orlando, Florida.Fellow awards celebrate outstanding leaders for their significant, nationally recognized contributions to the industrial and systems engineering profession and is the highest classification of membership in USE."When Pamela, Harriet, Tonya and I were making photos during the dessert reception, a few things immediately came to our minds as the photographer waited patiently: It's about time! Long overdue!" said USE Fellow and President Jamie Rogers of the achievement.
