We investigate exact fourth order invariants for one-dimensional time dependent dynamical systems by extending the approach of Struckmeier and Riedel (Phys Rev Lett 85:3833, 2000). The invariants contain a function of time (f_4(t)), which is a solution of a linear fourth order differential equation.
