Performance Evaluation of Three Stage Water Purifier for Ground Water in Rural Community Around Dehradun

摘要

The drinking ground water quality was assessed by examining various microbiological and physico-chemical parameters before and after treatment with three stage water purifier. The study revealed that three stage water purifier can be an effective alternative for reducing coliforms concentration in treated ground water supply. Twenty samples were analyzed for various physico-chemical parameters. Noticeable reduction was observed after treatment of water with water purifier. However, the level of total hardness, total alkalinity, total dissolved solids, conductivity, sulphate, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, carbonate and bicarbonate exceeded the safe limits for drinking water before and after treatment by water purifier. The phosphate and chloride content was found to be within permissible limits before and after treatment.
