摘要

Spray-on curing compounds are being widely used in construction, where traditional methods of curing are not practical. Four curing compounds were chosen and their efficiency, in terms of compressive strength, was studied at laboratory conditions of 25℃ temperature and 65% relative humidity, as well as under ambient conditions of Chennai during May-June 2013. The results indicate that the efficiency of curing compounds, varies in the range of 72% to 86%. This clearly indicates that the provision of IS 456:2000 to use curing compounds instead of water curing is unconservative. It is, therefore, recommended that an efficiency of 70% be considered in design or that the specimens used in quality control are maintained in ambient conditions after they are coated with the curing compound.
