Q: What was Rockford Health Systems' freight process before implementing a freight management solution? A: Before we implemented the Triose freight management solution, our freight process was inconsistent, and we didn't know what our true freight costs were. Freight was something that just happened, and was not monitored. Q: What internal challenges did you face in promoting the value of implementing a third-party solution, and gaining management's approval to proceed? A: Education was the biggest challenge to setting up the program. Because we didn't have a consistent process in place for handling freight costs, we needed to work with our finance and accounts payable personnel, as well as the purchasing staff, to come up with a method to track all costs. Once we had a vision for what we wanted to implement, we did some system testing to assure ourselves that the information would come through as we envisioned. We then trained our internal staff and monitored the results. Triose also was able to give us some references, so we contacted them to hasten our learning curve.
