THE LATEST INFORMATION ON ITS AND SMART CITIES

One of several goals dialogued at the 2017 Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) World Congress in Montreal was to improve safety through enhanced infrastructure for both human and automated drivers. A common message throughout the hundreds of presentations was that the future is closer than we think, and that we transportation professionals will help make that future a reality. The fact that this event was held over Halloween frames a big concern: will the future transportation network be full of "tricks or treats"? Over 10,000 visitors and 500 organizations attended the Congress to exchange knowledge, to hear the latest research developments, and to see new products and services. In step with IMSA's commitment to deliver member value by providing the latest information and education in the industry, this article highlights major activities at the ITS World Congress.
