For over four decades, researchers in the area of image analysis have developed numerous methods and systems, many of which based on probabilistic paradigms, such as the well-known Bayesian decision rule and evidence-based decision-making systems. The main assumption is that physical laws are ruled by Aristotelic logic; in other words they arise from a crisp-world assumption. Anyway, this assumption is not always true in the physical world; as a matter of fact, crisp assumptions work for some problems, while they fails miserably whenever imprecision and accuracy are not following probabilistic rules.
