An Interview with Graeme Ferguson

Tony lles spoke with the Founder of MAX on a visit to Bristol. Graeme Ferguson explained that the IMAX format had not been engineering-led: it had been invented by people who wanted to use it. The three founders of the company comprised two film-makers (One was Ferguson himself, who had learned his craft by becoming apprenticed, successively, to distinguished experimental film-makers Maya Deren and Arna Sucksdorf, and the other was Roman Kroitor, who had worked at the National Film Board of Canada, and had developed large screen presentations for Expo 67.) Their third partner, Robert Kerr, was a Printer by profession, who had also become the Mayor of their home town of Gait, Ontario.
