The filter materials that I have in mind are used for many purposes where it is required to change the colour of light or to reduce its intensity. Such filters can be large enough to cover a skylight or window, small enough to be fitted to an artificial light source. In the latter circumstances, the filter material may be exposed to considerable heat for a very long time, so the response of the material to that heat is therefore very important!
