Ever heard the saying 'Charity begins at home'? If you work 'behind the camera' in film, cinema, commercial television, cable, satellite or affiliated industries then the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund is your trade charity. Established in 1924, CTBF is celebrating 80 years of care in the industry this October. Despite the Fund's longevity and respectability in the industry, not everybody knows about us. The Fund is constantly striving to maintain its profile and to raise awareness about its existence within the film and television industries so that employees, salaried or freelance, know that they can turn to the Fund should they fall on hard times. The misconception is that help is only available to the elderly. In fact 40% of our beneficiaries are of working age. The Fund recognizes the increasingly unpredictable nature of employment in the cinema and television industries and is adapting to meet the needs of current employees - to provide services which are relevant to all those that make their living from working in the film, cinema and television industries.
