Things weren't always so cordial!

On October 10th 1928, a group of technicians from the British film industry started a series of meetings and discussions, which resulted in the decision to form a London Section of the SMPE. On 17th December the first officers were elected, with Simon Rowson as Chairman. A Papers committee was elected, and the Papers programme began. There were about 30 members at this stage. The December issue of the SMPE Journal welcomed the initiative, and accepted the suggestion that the entrance fees should be half that paid by members living in the USA.
