Rectangular Ring Antenna with Square Reflector Fed by CDM

A rectangular ring antenna with square reflector fed by circular disc monopole (CDM) was proposed for WiM AX systems. The proposed antenna is desired for the unidirectional broadband antenna that covers the frequency range from 2.3 GHz to 5.825 GHz. The performances of the antenna such as the return loss, the radiation pattern and the directivity, were analyzed by using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio. The prototype of the antenna was fabricated and measured to confirm the simulated results. It is found that the simulated and measured results are in good agreement. From the results, the bandwidth |S_(11)|<-10 dB is ranging from 2.3 GHz to 6.0 GHz and the antenna provides a unidirectional pattern with front-to-back ratio better than 20 dB. The proposed antenna is useful for WiMAX systems.
