その結果,ユーザ当りのトラヒック量を固定とした場合,IDMAを用いることにより,同時接続端末数を増大することができ,結果として,遅延時間20[ms]を満たすUE数が約2倍に増加できることを示す.%It is expected that the number of devices which transmit small packets increases due to the growth of machine to machine (M2M) communications. This paper presents excellent applicability of Interleave Division Multiple Access (IDMA) to small packet transmission for the uplink in cellular system. IDMA is a contention based access scheme in which very low-rate error control code are applied and different interleavers are used to distinguish users. IDMA is suited to transmit small packet because it does not require control signals used for frequency scheduling. We evaluate the performance of throughput as well as the latency of small packet transmissions by system level simulations, and the results are compared with the case of using OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access). The simulation results show that IDMA increases the number of users that can transmit packet simultaneously, and then improves the ratio that a packet is received within 20 [ms] by about 2 times.
