An Optimized Simple Strategy for Capacity Allocation in Satellite Systems With Smart Gateway Diversity

摘要

In this article, optimal assignments, for various performance metrics, in multibeam high-throughput smart gateway diversity satellite systems operating at extremely high frequencies are studied. The minimization of the objectives of the total system's capacity losses and the rate matching are achieved and at the same time, the total system's satisfaction ratio is maximized. The offered and the requested capacities in the satellite system as well as the dynamic variations of the atmospheric satellite channels are considered in the analysis. The efficient Hungarian algorithm is adopted to provide an optimal pairing solution for different realistic satellite scenarios that have to do with different QoS requirements of the user beams, cases that gateways cannot serve all the user beams and that more than one user beams can be served by each gateway simultaneously. The proposed scheme has the polynomial time complexity and shows equal performance with the complex Exhaustive algorithm. Finally, another important conclusion is that the optimum satellite system's performance is achieved when there are no disallowed assignments; in that case, all user beams can be served by all gateways.
