摘要

Lasers and electro-optics are two of the most exciting fields that a new graduate can consider. Much of this excitement comes from the challenge of working to produce new coherent wavelengths from known materials. Added incentive comes from using these new wavelengths to do things that have never been done before, such as rejoining a detached retina without an incision or helping to manufacture electronic chips with more components per unit area than ever before.
