The absorption and emission properties of Yb3+-dopednZBLANP, BIGaZYT and QX/Yb phosphate glasses are studied to evaluatentheir potential for laser-induced fluorescent cooling or opticalnrefrigeration. The efficiency of optical refrigeration increases withnpump wavelength in the anti-Stokes region. The cooling efficiencies ofnthe three glasses as a function of temperature are evaluated at thenwavelength Λp corresponding to the absorption coefficient of 10n-3 cm-1. For temperatures <110 K, the coolingnefficiency of the BIGaZYT glass may be more than twice that of thenZBLANP
