摘要

For the short-range variations of the external cavity length, thendynamic behaviors of a semiconductor laser with optical feedback areninvestigated by the numerical simulations and experiments. Under thencondition of a single-mode oscillation, the laser output power showsnperiodic undulation along the external cavity length whose period isnequal to half of the optical wavelength. At weak to moderate externalnoptical feedback, stable, periodic, quasi-periodic, and chaoticnoscillations of the laser output power are observed within the periodicnundulation. Experimental results of periodic and quasi-periodicnoscillations obtained by the laser output power and the optical spectrumnsupport the predictions from the numerical analysis based on the ratenequations
