摘要

Based on the spatially dependent multimode rate equations, weninvestigate the transient side-mode suppression in the gain-coupledndistributed feedback (DFB) lasers. A simplified but accurate multimodendynamic analysis of gain-coupled DFB lasers is developed. To first ordernof perturbation approximation, the study includes various spatialneffects, such as the distributed complex coupling, the nonuniformncarrier distribution, and the nonlinear gain compression. It is foundnthat gain coupling introduces high decay rates and low dynamicndifferential gains for the side modes, which effectively suppress theirntransient fluctuation and shorten the rise time of the transientnside-mode suppression ratio (SMSR)
