摘要

The design of semiconductor-based unstable resonators withnlaterally finite mirrors is investigated. A time-independent model usednfor tapered cavity semiconductor lasers is implemented to analyze thisncavity design. Initial investigations show a significant improvement innexternal quantum efficiency, as well as a decrease in threshold currentndensity as compared to the traditional tapered lasers with laterallyninfinite mirrors. The advantages and disadvantages of the proposedndesign will be discussed
