摘要

The presence or evolution of partial discharge (PD) provides a basis for insulation condition monitoring. Consequently, detection and location of PD provides valuable knowledge of insulation condition [1]. Noise, received through conduction or radiation, is the primary impediment to practical PD measurement. In the case of on-line measurements, some form of noise filtering is nearly always applied to reduce the effects of such noise on PD detection sensitivity [2], [3]. Simple analogue band-pass filters have been used for many years to suppress noise; however, as a result of ever increasing computing power, more advanced digital signal processing techniques have been proposed [4]-[7]. In this paper, we discuss the application of matched filters to PD detection and source location. If the PD pulse waveform is known, a matched filter maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for PD pulse detection [8]-[10]. After a general introduction to matched filter properties, the concept is applied to partial discharge detection and source location.
