Quality Management Systems in Special Libraries of Kolkata City : A Survey

Presents the results of a survey which was carried out in 116 special libraries of Kolkata out of the 147 special libraries available of Kolkata city. The study examines the present status of quality management system in special library sector of Kolkata city, how they are managing the quality of services and achieving customer satisfaction, and measuring the effectiveness of services provided by them. The study followed the ISO 9001 standard Quality management systems requirements, and also identified parameters applicable for libraries. The study also assesses the present, level of quality, and based on the findings of the study useful recommendations are made which will help libraries in developing them as per ISO 9001 quality management system standard.
