From Nordic Hydrology To Hydrology Research

It is with great pleasure that we present Hydrology Research, which marks an important development of Nordic Hydrology. As many readers will know, Nordic Hydrology began in 1970 and has been the very successful official journal of the Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF). However, the idea that readers of, and contributors to, Nordic Hydrology would benefit from its further development had been gaining ground in recent years. One way of doing this was to reach out more actively and effectively to a wider base of hydrologists in northwest Europe and throughout the rest of the world. Knowing that the British Hydrological Society (BHS) had been considering starting a journal (in response to continual prompting to do so from many of its members) the NHF approached BHS to establish to what extent the two organisations might work together to re-launch Nordic Hydrology. The approach from the NHF was warmly received by the BHS. Formal discussions between NHF, BHS and IWA Publishing (IWAP had been publishing Nordic Hydrology since 2004) began in 2006, and agreement between the parties was reached in 2007. The new title, Hydrology Research, marks the transition from Nordic Hydrology. Volume numbering for the Hydrology Research carries on from that of Nordic Hydrology.
