摘要

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been treated as second-class citizens by authors in the human resource management literature for far too long. This conclusion became very evident when the editors of this issue reviewed the academic and practitioner literature in human resources and en-trepreneurship and found a grand total of 17 empirical articles between 1984 and 1999 examining human resource management in SMEs (Heneman, Tansky, & Camp, 2000). We also found that current textbooks have little to say about managing human resources in SMEs.
