摘要

Mahalingam's work on essentialism, caste, and power makes a valuable contribution to the literature on the development and underlying structures of stereotyping and prejudice. Mahalingam also demonstrates that essentialism can be an outcome of, as well as a contributor to, stereotyped views of social groups. Future research should explore further the role of essentialism in children's developing concepts of power, as well as their conceptualizations of stereotyped groups.
