Making best use of existing road space is an important objective for the Highways Agency. Richard Eastman,divisional director in the Highways Agency, explains how a trial scheme in Birmingham will help the agency achieve this. The M42 in Birmingham has been chosen as the trial site for a £40 million package of the latest high-tech congestion busting equipment from the Highways Agency.
