Britain's motorway network - one of the UK's most valuable and overworked assets - is not keeping pace for the future. If it is going to continue helping to drive the country's competitiveness and deliver economic growth, as well as meeting peoples' need and desire to travel, it must be improved, be maintained at optimum standards, and be monitored and controlled in real time. The government must look critically at how motorways are funded and maintained.
