Amey seals seven year deal to manage roads in Plymouth

Amey has bagged a ￡150 million framework contract with Plymouth City Council, which is outsourcing its civil engineering, public realm, highways and transportation related services to the firm. The contract is due to start next month and will run for 10 years. Chris Sane, the council's assistant director of development, said: "The deal is for an initial period of seven years, starting from December, with the possibility of a three-year extension if performance targets are met. "We are having an initial three-month handover to tackle start-up issues like installing new computer systems and informing the public of the changes. 96 existing Council employees will then transfer to Amey on 1 December [2008]." As part of the deal, Amey will carry out design and maintenance of Plymouth's roads for the city council.
